Hope you guys enjoy the video!

Yes – I finally got my 15" i9 MacBook Pro yesterday. Been testing it all day :)) Will be doing a full thermal throttling and performance breakdown. Stay tune for that video! If everything goes well, it should be up tomorrow night!

"issue is not the CPU as they have been using most powerful processors by intel"
And have they also kept them cool enough to not thermal thro- we already have the several answers to that question I think…

there is a script patch to get FCP working again with the eGPU. It's a FCP issue not the eGPU. Also with the mbp 13" not all the ports have full pci lanes. "The two ports on the right side of the machine have Thunderbolt 3 functionality but with reduced PCI Express bandwidth. For that reason, Apple recommends plugging higher-performance devices into the left-hand ports on that machine.". the eGPU from BM is actually rather good. For sure its not upgradable but it does have some nice benefits & insane performance GFX is moot across a thunderbolt 3 cable.

Summary: its apple (overpriced with filthy low specs, unupgradeable.doesn't outsource much of the processing load unless you use external display)
Go the pc-like route (build your own)

2018 even the base 13 inch Mac should have iPhone Grade Webcams and Face ID, Net alone the much more expanisve Pro Range which should for certain have rear iPhone grade cameras (& software) and Face ID!

wait, thunderbolt is like a faster pci-e, so I would bet that if he connected a monitor thru HDMI (using an external monitor) that he would see the eGPU being used in games. maybe I am wrong, I use windows.

Gotta be honest, I'm impatient. If I don't care about the money, is it good? Does it work well?

$200 rsp gpu being sold for $700… nice.. granted it has a power supply with it too but still, thats so over priced there are other external gpu boxes out there that you can get for like $200 and then put in your own gpu

So it only works when implementing the LG 5k monitor?
That's the takeaway from this… why does Apple keep doing this? This is insane.

thanks for the video. you mentioned this is only worth it for the 13" MacBook pro. I was interested in getting this GPU to use with 15" i9 and using it for the
LG 34WK95U 34" 21:9 UltraWide 5K Nano IPS Monitor. photo and video editing. no video games. my intension is to set up for desktop at home. the razer core is $300 US and the ASUS radeon RX Vega 64 is $590 and that set up cant run thunderbolt to the monitor. your thoughts?

It's NOT an Apple product. The giveaway is on the front of the box where it says "Blackmagicdesign"…

So, 13 minutes of this video is about you, not using the eGPU properly. I don't know you, but I would not carry the eGPU around with me, it would already be hooked up to a monitor at home. This review is irritating and not well produced. An eGPU will show it's performance only on an external monitor. It will only improve performance, if you send scripts and calculations over to it, because it is not connected to the internal monitor.
