Sorry, I'm going to have to give this distro release a massive "F". Here's why:

I have an aversion to overly expensive hardware. (a.k.a. I'm BROKE!…LoL!) So I have a couple of machines from a few years ago. I've tried NINE TIMES to install this cursed distro on a Lenovo ThinkPad T-420…and a T-430 laptops that are a bit long in the tooth and whom all drivers SHOULD be available in the open source community!….(the T-420 was released to the world?…IN 2012!!!) and on BOTH machines! (!!!???) after install?….I get a login screen that won't go any further. Literally. No…..I mean LITERALLY!! I login…..the mouse/cursor spins/rotates for a few seconds and then?…….I'M PROMPTED TO LOGIN AGAIN!!??……so nope….gonna have to leave this distro alone for a bit…..until they figure that out. And before the "Linux-Uber-Snobs" attack me?….understand: Yes….I could scour the internet for hours / days looking for a solution, but Linux keeps saying it's "Easier To Install – Use Than Windows"….well now?…they'll have to prove that to me! I'll still be using Linux (thank God for my FAVORITE distro! FEDORA!!!)….but untl this issue gets fixed for GOOD?….I won't be touching Linux Mint anymore. I have too many other things to do than to try to figure our why a FRESH install of an OS……THAT USED TO WORK ON THESE SAME TWO COMPUTERS!?… is causing this issue…let the devs who maintain it figure it out…..push out a patch or an update or whatever, and then hope they can MAINTAIN that bit of code for every release after that. Until that happens?….I'm gonna have to say goodbye to Linux Mint…..shame really….I've been with them since 9…..and have watched them grow into a truly refined representative of the Open Source software movement. But I can't keep chasing issues anymore….not at my age….and not with what little time I have left on Earth!….LoL!

I've been using Solus 3.9999 and I've been quite happy. Yet again I tend to be like a crow when it comes to operating systems…

They generally don't stay alive in my wake

No problems with Mate… dun't know about Cinnamon, had issues with it a couple of versions back, and switched to Mate, never going back, and I use a high end NVidia graphic card.

Linux Mint gives me nostalgia for how windows used to be years ago as far as layout and the way it looks.

Xubuntu has a strong gravity pull on me. Tried Mint, but didn't got that excitement for working on it despite it having more feature than xubuntu.

What was wrong with them withholding updates? On regular Ubuntu my pc always screwed up when I did full updates…always. That was one of the things I liked about mint was that it was more careful with updates.

    Great review.

One point, however, make sure you have enough (I think about 6GB) before using TimeShift.

Love that they put rythembox on 19. Works well with compilation tunes of different artists. I'm having an issue with my wireless, connects to router, but only half the time can I actually get on the internet.

This distro is shit… and Cinnamon looks like a washed out turd. Wasted too much of my time trying getting things to work. Tried every suggestion to get something as simple as Minecraft to work. From my experience Mint is nowhere as good as Peppermint.

Looks like the famous 'Yet Another Distro' – with a dreary, uninspired GUI that falls apart as soon as you try to install any extensions.

LM Tara has been a disappointing experience with tons of problems from the start i.e WiFi issue, then Grub boot error and now login loop. Tired and instead have been working on Windows 10.
