You remember how everyone hated Windows 8 because it opted to go solely for a touch interface, leaving desktop users in the dust?

This is the exact same issue.

It is still a bad file management system, go back to your roots Microsoft, back to the double-pane DOS shell, like Total Commander and then maybe you'll have something worth talking about.

It's applications like this which show why developers should never write UWAs. File Explorer is not a complex program and many Win32 apps include some variation of it. Yet… in 8 years, Microsoft has failed to write a UWA (in either Windows 8 or 10) which is even remotely useful. We've seen this with dozens of programs and tools. 8 years and they still haven't replaced Control Panel? Paint? Office? Mail is still a joke vs. Outlook? Groove took forever to get good enough — and still is missing features contained in WMP. This is the same with other software developers — if there is a UWP and a desktop app… the desktop is almost always more feature rich. If you look at the Windows store… you have thousands upon thousands of programs which barely quality as utilities and for which there is almost always a much better desktop application around.

To me, Microsoft is its own proof that UWAs don't work.

I had no idea Windows had a Metro-themed file manager until now.

    That’s pretty cool. 🙂

yes, this is great, MAKE EVERY SINGLE BUTTON TEN TIMES LARGER, it's not like all desktop users have a precise pointing device called a "mouse", no of course not, every single pc is a touchscreen nowadays. very smart idea microsoft

From my short WP experience, the file explorer was the best (default) mobile file explorer I had ever seed.

Why are they screwing up file explorer at all? They have no proper tablets. They abandoned the phones. All they really have that needs a file explorer are laptops and desktops. VR and XBOX are just a tiny fraction of the laptop/desktop market.

This UWP idea was supposed to be for running the same apps on tablet, desktop, laptop and phone. Now that Microsoft is primarily a desktop and laptop company again, I don't see the need to screw up their two largest platforms for nothing.

Microsoft is internet on destroying the desktop.

And still no game will run properly due to completely broken dwm. Dx11 does not work, dx 12 does not work. Forced borderless modes breaks gsync and sync in general. Windows 10 is a complete failure and nothing like what users actually need. Microsoft has killed off pc gaming with stutters and broken sync and refresh rates.

    Sort out:

    • context menus (make them consistent; stop shuffling around the options. On previous versions of Windows, navigating the UI was fast thanks to muscle memory.)
    • PC settings/Control Panel (just choose one. It's not that hard.)
    • UI elements such as caption buttons and universal apps are just too big; there is so much unused space on the screen. (enable smaller UI elements for PCs. Not everyone is using a 10 inch tablet, despite what you try to tell us)
    • better yet, let us choose the 'classic' 95-style theme and get rid of the metro design tablet orientated garbage. The incredibly popular XP and Win7 iterations allowed us to do this…

Why are people getting pissed off ? The legacy file explorer will exist just like Control Panel exists alongside Settings and IE exists alongside Edge.
    Also, its still experimental.
